I still want a "Hey, I was sleeping asshole" fix/hack because I'm tired of sims coming into the bedroom and turning on a tv while someone else is sleeping.

How about a complete set of modified EAxis careers with more reasonable salaries, to keep sims from getting so rich that ALL of them can afford hottubs, sports cars and more pieces of expensive art than you can shake a paintbrush at?

Someone on MTS2 did that already, actually - all wages are halved.  Can't remember who right now, though.

Anyone who thinks it's a bright idea to put a TV in a bedroom gets what's coming to them, IMO.

I mostly play period hoods so my sims don't even use TV's but even I know to make good use of the not-so-discreet but better than nothing room dividers for issues like this. Thanks to those things I have bathrooms with multiple toilets and Sims that nap even when the stereo/magical harp is blaring Anachronistic College Rock.

Really? I didn't think anyone would have bothered (that's a lot of careers). I'll have to track them down. Thanks for the infos.

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Right, I actually managed to read some of this before deciding you were an idiot.  Let me address some of these:

1 sentence in and you're already berating me.

Quote
Growable Money Trees

What's the point?  In TS3 growing money trees is actually sort of difficult, since you have to actually find the seeds first.  Basically, you're suggesting that TS2 sims just spend some negligible amount of aspiration points to be able to buy something for $20 and sell it for $40, as often as they want.  There's already way too much money in TS2 - this would just make it worse.

Well then, then idea of posting this wasn't to find them, it was to brainstorm ideas for objects for don't exist, so whoever merged this, good call. Just saying 'this can't be done' and providing a reason isn't really helpful at all when you've suggested nothing to improve it. That's why I placed my ideas in a new topic, so it won't clutter this one.

Quote
Growable Ambrosia

There's already Elixir of Life.  If that's not good enough, Pes has converted the turn-elders-back-into-adults thing, which you can buy for $50K.

It's NOT Elixir of Life, though. This idea is in the vein of the Sims 3 thing, where you make a soup that can be left out for a ghost to eat. You unintentionally suggested an idea though, when you were trying to 'pwn' me, which I'm sure was your goal instead of being helpful.

Quote
Replicator

Making shittons of food that never goes bad, ever, is already incredible easy, especially when it's sparkly Seasons food.  No point.
Then suggest an idea instead of dismissing it.

Quote
Sim-Servo Converter

To turn a sim into a servo, just have them activate a servo.  I don't know what the point of turning a servo into a sim is, since it will just be a clone of whatever sim activated it in the first place, except that it will have a boring face-template face.  Boring.

Imagine the situation where one would like more time to complete a life goal - this would allow the player to do that without needing the Elixir of Life. You COULD have suggested benefits that would provide a reason to transform. Imagine a situation where you have a Servo that knows everything there is to know and the challenge is gone - bring him to life and have him die instead of having him lurk forever.

Quote
Sonic Shower

Sounds like you just want a recolored shower that sims use while clothed.  I'm sure someone has done it already.
Oh really? So I want a pink communal shower that you can use clothed? That's quite a stupid suggestion, actually, I should have suggested animations, maybe some random teleportation into the street, or even sabotage by an enemy. You really got me there.

Quote
Cleaning Sprinklers

Automatic cleaning things would be nice, but having them cause sims to barf is just annoying.

They only barf profusely when it's broken. When it isn't, you'll have the same chance of doing it as getting abducted by aliens. Try constructive criticism.

Quote
Controllable Ghosts

This is the number one thing that most people hated about TS3.  Why bring it to TS2?
So it can be improved in execution.

Quote
Plantsim Mod

Just make aliens, FFS.
Photosynthesis.

Quote
Cloner

Cloned sims are boring.  See servo answer.

Cloned Sims I suggested to have genetic anomalies or a purposely injected baldness gene. If you would have read it properly you would have seen the many suggestions I have provided to make the objects interesting and have a point to them in some way.

I stopped reading at this point, though I'd be really surprised if someone hasn't already made the acne mod.
Stopped reading at this point? I don't think you were reading to begin with. Maybe the thought of slating a new, well meaning member was too hard to overcome.

Also:  This is not a hack request site.  If you want to find something you think may already exist (like the acne mod) post in the WCIF thread.  Don't post here demanding that people make you things.  If you really want them, figure out how to make them yourself.  If they're really as awesome as you claim, chances are that someone already made them.  If no one else has made them, stop for a minute and ask yourself why.
I wasn't requesting, I was pitching ideas. I was not demanding that one of you would make me a toy for me. If it's an underdeveloped idea, then of course you won't find them elsewhere yet, they're original suggestions that I intended for people to contribute to and improve. You're clearly obviously making assumptions about me and assuming I'm an idiot because I'm new here. I'm literally fighting the urge to make assumptions about your anti-social character in the face of new people when you give me replies to my suggestions with a meh and a psudeo-pwn. Just say something fucking useful, stop trying to look cool. If you didn't see the element of 'this is an idea pitch' in the post, it's because you didn't read the subtext, and granted, I might not have made it clear, but well done, you've merged it with an irrelevant topic. Thanks for checking up in a reply.

Is there a hack which allows all in game camera shots to be ordered as a print, not just those taken by the 'take photo' interaction?

Just in case this got missed during the thread merger, despite the thread being merged being a wishlist and not a WCIF.

Here's my idea: let's not make new pointless hacks that don't actually improve the game.

Quote
You COULD have suggested benefits that would provide a reason to transform.

Yes, I could have, but I think the idea is a stupid one with no conceivable benefits.  If you want people to tell you how clever you are, go to the BBS.  If you want honest opinions, MATY is much better.

Quote
Oh really? So I want a pink communal shower that you can use clothed?

Uh, no.  Reading comprehension, much?

Quote
Quote
Controllable Ghosts

This is the number one thing that most people hated about TS3.  Why bring it to TS2?
So it can be improved in execution.

No, it couldn't.  The whole idea of ghosts that are not actually dead really defeats the whole purpose of ghosts in the first place.

Quote
Quote
Plantsim Mod

Just make aliens, FFS.
Photosynthesis.

You mean you want them to have the plantsim motives?  Well, there are only about 38236232 different plantsim default replacements out there - I'm sure one of those would work just fine.

Quote
Cloned Sims I suggested to have genetic anomalies or a purposely injected baldness gene.

There is no "baldness gene" - "bald" is just a choice of hairstyle.  I'm not sure what kinds of genetic anomalies you think would be interesting here - your only choices are really hair color, eye color, skin color, and personality, all of which have extremely limited ranges, and none of which actually make a terrible lot of difference in any case.

I stopped reading at this point, though I'd be really surprised if someone hasn't already made the acne mod.
Stopped reading at this point? I don't think you were reading to begin with. Maybe the thought of slating a new, well meaning member was too hard to overcome.

Quote
Just say something fucking useful, stop trying to look cool.

ROFL.  I am saying something useful - I am telling you why these are stupid (and unoriginal) ideas for TS2 mods.  I'm sorry if you just wanted vacant validation and praise - this is MATY, after all.

Dark Trepie - Here's a leopard and black top.  I'm about 9/10 asleep, so let me know if I uploaded the wrong thing, or anything like that.

http://www.mediafire.com/?ztd2yyqmnzq

mildlydisguised - You can copy and rename any Storytelling photo, so it can be ordered as a print.  Here's the notes I made for myself, let me know if it makes sense:

Here's what I did. I had my sim take a snapshot.

Then I went into my N001 Storytelling folder. I found the old photo I wanted to use. I copied it and the thumbnail.

I selected one item, selected Edit -> Copy, then selected Edit -> Paste. This gave me "Copy of snapshot_b40bead2_740bf06e.jpg" and "Copy of thumbnail_b40bead2_740bf06e.jpg"

Now I selected the snapshot my sim had taken - nsnapshot_940c1e03_140c1b7b.jpg

I clicked on the actual name, and it turned into a box so you could edit or change the name. I pressed Cntl-C to copy this.

Now I clicked on my old picture. I clicked on the actual name and this turned into the editing box. I pressed Cntl-V and it copied that other name into it. Now the important part. You can't have two things with the same name, so I added -1 to the end of this name. So now this file was named nsnapshot_940c1e03_140c1b7b-1.jpg

I did the same thing for the thumbnail, renaming it to nthumbnail_940c1e03_140c1b7b-1.jpg.

I had the game running all this time, so I went back to it. Now that old photo showed up in the snapshot area and I could order it.

Not that I know of. A work-around is to take an in-game camera shot, then have someone take a random photo. Pull up the image editor of your choice. Copy the photo you want over the junk shot and save (make sure to get the thumbnail as well). Order photo in game. A side benefit of this method is that you can edit the shot. I've done a bunch in sepia tones before.

Sonic Shower:

Teleporter and Phone Summoning Pods (Apartment Life):

There's a sonic shower by Atavera at MTS. Someone wrote it had cool visual effect.
For a teleporter, have you tried Inge Jones's teleporter cat, the Simwardrobe teleporter vase, or TJ's Blender at Simbology? Of course they only have the really useful features and not the fluff, but of the functions, they have loads.

Does anyone know if there's a hack somewhere that prevents townies from accumulating huge amounts of random crap in their inventories as a result of buying it from OFB businesses?  Or something that simply completely empties townie inventories when they move in?  I just moved in a college townie with $50K worth of deco objects in her inventory, which is even worse than the 20K handout.

Suggested work-around: Use Monique's computer con Chaavik to donate away the gained moneys. Not aware of a hack. In general, my neighborhoods are highly taxed and any sort of bonuses I can get ensure that my sims get roofs over their heads and a separate room for the spawn. No sims but Blue/Business caste are allowed to sell items for profit, but using inventory gains decreases what money they have to spend on those same things.

You could just pull the items out of their inventory and then drop Stuck Object Removers on them.

This is fitting. A new marry-in in my caste 'hood, a Professional Party Guest, was carrying the party in her pants. She had two dance orbs, a piano, and a karaoke machine. Thank goodness she's Blue/Business and even though she was marrying an Orange/Government, caste is matriarchal there. So much money!

Yes, I should have done that - probably could have moveobjects'd them all onto the same tile and only used one SOR too.  In any case, I do have ways to get rid of the extra money; I just don't like having to explicitly meddle with their finances unless I'm doing something like making them pay for university.

Why do you care? Just leave the objects in the inventory and don't sell them. Because, what happens to be in the inventory stays in the inventory, you know.

Well, I actually use inventory for things, and I don't want to have to click through tons of stuff to get to the objects I've actually put in the inventory for a purpose, or (worse) become confused about whether something is in the inventory because I put it there, or because the townie moved in with it.

In any case, I tried to make a mod for this by overwriting the "Move In - Add Objects to Townie Inventories" BHAV to instead remove everything from the inventory, but it didn't work.  Woe.  Maybe I'll poke around a bit more, but I don't really know a whole lot about how the move-in process is handled.

Because, what happens to be in the inventory stays in the inventory, you know.

Was she the Diva? (the downtownie in the long black formal dress) IIRC, Mr. Big and the Diva are pre-programmed to move in with shittons of stuff, and are Professional Party Guests.

Actually, come to that, this was a sim who was shipped as a playable, that I later made into a townie with Inge's cat.  Did I do it wrong, somehow?  I think I remember another instance of a previously-playable-now-made-townie dormie (Kevin Beare) coming in with way more stuff in inventory than I expected.

Mr. Big and the Diva do come with tons of stuff in their Inventory, but I married in a Downtownie (long blonde hair, brown trenchcoat-dress) with 2 Dance Spheres, a guitar, the expensive telescope, a remote-controlled car, a video game machine, and a couple of plants.  I don't recall what her career was when she married in, but she definitely wasn't a Professional Party Guest, and she was definitely NOT the Diva.

I've used a couple of playables-made-unplayable, and they've married in with various amounts of stuff in their inventories, although usually on the low end.

No. I don't use Downtown. I have no vamps or divas. She was an unemployed teen townie who was aged up specifically for her spouse. The job assignment and inventory were strictly from the random generator.

In the DC, I believe it is ftminifix or alfixes that quells the excessive greeting. ALfixes is critical if you have Apartment Life: You need it unless you want your sims randomly losing cell phones or date rewards getting stuck on apartment lots, etc.
Thank you, but there's nothing in the readme about greeting obsession for either ftminifixes or alfixes. I haven't had any problems with the cell phones or retrieving date rewards dropped outside apartments, so I'll pass on that hack.

To remove the idle animations that came with FT you need "Stop All Hobby Related Idle Gestures" from simwardrobe.
You can find it here: Sims 2>Fixes>FreeTime Fixes
Darn. No way to get rid of just the Games enthusiasm animation? Well, thank you very much. I'll definitely keep that around in case I won't be able to stand the annoyance anymore. So far I've resorted to maxing out enthusiasm for other hobbies so those animations take priority.

I've also found Improved Housekeeping on the same site, which sounds great because my vacation maids only make the beds and then just stand there. I'll go ahead and try that unless someone knows a MATY equivalent (I don't see anything about maids in either the BV hack directory or the description for vacationfixes).

This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but it may help: TwoJeffs' Hobby Idle Animations Fix (scroll downward a bit).
