Kids in my game have certainly died from disease. I had the realistic sickness mod in, don't know if it had something to do with it. http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,8062.msg234447.html#msg234447

Is there a mod (or a cheatcode) that allows toddlers and kids to starve to death/freeze to death/die of disease, or is it a structural part of gameplay that can't be touched?
6ses can starve to death or die of the plague, although the SS will take them away if you try to kill the current fambly's in their own home, and it's not easy to kill ANYONE from the Plague. Toddlers cannot die of anything normally because there are no animations to handle this. No sim can freeze to death. Freezing in and of itself is nonfatal, although the motive hit that freezing imposes can cause death by starvation.

I posted this is the store thread as well, I'm sorry if either (Or both) of these are int he wrong place.

I was wondering if it was possible to get the stuff pack items/clothes and possibly the free time CF clothes as a mac-friendly download somewhere?

I'd be glad to buy them, but they stopped porting for mac after GLS and BV.

Thanks so much in advance!

I haven't seen default replacements, but what is your goal? To make townies wear medieval duds as well? If so, you can either create those townies in CAS and change them to townies through use of something like Inge's teleporter cat, or you can change the outfits of existing townies using Christianlov's clothing rack. The cat is at simlogical.com. Christianlov's rack is at MTS2.

In other news, does anyone know of a mod to make the neighborhood floater icons for apartments and home businesses invisible? I find the apartment ones especially to be garish. If there's only one that removes all icons, including occupied residence plumbbobs, that's fine. I know the addresses of all my residents.

When I'm talking about floaters, I'm referring to the green items shown below:

I'm already using Inge's Teleporter along with the clothing tool to change appearances as I get the chance, but I like the idea of default replacements doing some of the work for me. I'm using the inhabitants of Blue Water Village as the starter playables in this hood, and apparently when I added BWV it dumped a bunch of townies in as well. I'm trying to work with them with minimal effort on my part.

I really hope someone here knows how to get rid of these two behaviors that are driving me up the wall.

All my sims seem to be plagued by arthritis. I don't know what EP brought on this insanity, but I think they were all fine in Seasons. An idle sim will strech out his hand, grimace and moan in pain. The whole thing is accompanied by the sound of crackling bones. Ugh.

Sims seem to have become obsessed with greeting each other. Ideally, I would like no autonomous greeting whatsoever. I've sometimes cancelled the action as many as five times, and it keeps popping back in the queue. Downtownies will patiently stare at you while you make out with your date, waiting for an opening to say hello.

And then of course there's the double whammy: arthritic sim obsessed with greeting you.

Edit: Almost forgot. And another hack that would be nice to have is something that takes the hobby wants down a few notches, or takes them out altogether. They seem to be super-high scoring, to the point that say a Family aspiration sim doesn't want to get married or have a baby, but always wants to talk about a hobby, win a hobby contest, blog about hobby and so on.

Sammy, in short, get the Director's Cut. Descriptions of individual hacks can be found on the wikka under TS2 Hacks. That will tune wants as well as get rid of the obsessive greetings. As for what you are calling arthritic behavior, that is an idle animation that came with FT. I believe, but am not sure, that it comes along with Games enthusiasm.

I'm looking for some recolors of this top.

Any recolors really, but specifically red.

I already found this and this on MTS.  The last of which doesn't show up in CAS.  I require moar.  (but really want red)

I made a few quick recolors.  Is this what you had in mind?

I can easily make more, just a couple of quick questions.

1.  Which MTS color wasn't working for you - the green?

2.  How many do you want?  You see how many combos can be made with just one color.  They don't take long to make, but I don't want to flood you with 5 versions of green, five versions of aqua, five versions of blue, etc., unless you really want them.

None of the four from the second link worked.  And the blue one from the first link was missing as well.

I was originally looking for the solid red.  But I like the two tone ones as well.  I'll happily grab whatever you can make.

Thank you for the pointer, but I don't see anything in there that takes care of the annoyances I mentioned. Do you know which hacks in particular I should install? Most are missing descriptions in the wikka. And I can't just install them all because many sound like they get rid of behaviors I like. ftminifixes sounded promising but the individual description doesn't say that it removes the idle animation.
As for what you are calling arthritic behavior, that is an idle animation that came with FT. I believe, but am not sure, that it comes along with Games enthusiasm.
That makes sense (well, the fact that Maxis/EA thought it was a good idea doesn't). Unfortunately, that makes it impossible to avoid. All sims play games of some kind -- computer, console, chess, dartboard.

Missing features in the Sims 2 that could be added (Mostly futuristic ones)
« Reply #40 on: 2009 November 15, 17:06:21 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

It's annoyed me that I can't find many of the things I'm going to list here on Modthesims, but then again, they're cocks for their tightass policies, so I won't be surprised if these exist already:

Growable Money Trees (Seasons):
When first placing the money tree reward, upon first harvest, you can choose from the pie menu to 'add it to stock' or something to that effect. An option would appear within the soil tiles to plant 'Money tree - $20'. Alternatively, this option could appear provided the money is available.

Growable Ambrosia from the Sims 3 (Seasons, possibly Freetime):
Let's imagine that in absence of the Sims 3 collectible features in the Sims 2 that one could collect 'ectoplasm' from the residue of a ghost and put it into a soup that they could drink and return them to life. I imagine that method would be too easy, so I suppose that Grandma's Comfort soup could be used as the ambrosia. Possibly an alternate coloured soup could be generated when a tombstone is on the lot, maybe at a rate of 7% of every time you make GCS. I welcome any better suggestions.

Converted Sims 3 Replicator:
Possibly in different colourings, it could be converted into an Aspiration reward and made with the same features. It would be wise IMO, to remove the inherited food spoilage. I suggest that you could place household waste into it, such as items like remaining food that is spoiled or plantlife in the garden, futuristically rearranging the elements into the required food, with a reasonable chance that you could generate a spoiled copy.

Sim to Servo and Servo to Sim Converting Pod (Open For Business):
I imagine that this object would be understandably hard to create and make functionable, I've read around that it's notoriously difficult to tweak settings in a Servo that may possibly turn him Sim, and vice versa. Regardless, I'll leave this here so we can all dream. In the shape of a maxis match ceiling height mad scientist's type thing, the Sim or Servo could walk into it while another Sim nearby with the required mechanical and logic points could work the controls of a computer system to the left of the machine. As the Sim nearby works at the computer for an in-game hour, the subject is gradually converted in a white light, unseen, into their polar opposite copy. The subject will eventually emerge as a bald, eyebrowless sim, naked (just this time, but they have their clothes generated and can simply go up to a wardrobe), with a randomly chosen default face, (I think they get one that can't be seen when they are a Servo, so this part may be unneeded) depending on their personality, they'll either faint or cheer, or a variety of other responses that can be recycled from other animation. The Sim generated, logically could be created sterile (or for an extra hour of work, fertile if one so chooses) and will have their personality revert to their 'genetic' variety that was generated when they were built. I can suggest that a transparent skin could be used to simulate nanotechnology in a sterile Sim/Servo and a skin chosen by the player out of the ones available if the Sim/Servo has spent another hour in the machine having their eggs/testicles/genetics made. A Sim - Servo convert would simply emerge as a Servo of appropriate gender, a pop-up with a message says that 'SIMNAME is now a Servo! SIMNAME's genetic material has been saved if they ever change their mind and want to return to the land of the living.'

Might be impossible, but fucking cool.

Sonic Shower:
The Sim (or Servo, there's no water involved) would step into the sonic shower and will hover over it in a wash of blue light from the machine, slowly rotating while it does its work. There could be a small chance that the Sim could be accidentally teleported into the street, naked or in swimwear, depending how they entered the shower. The Sim using the shower will enter naked if they are outgoing, like the hot-tub but otherwise in swimwear. A grouchy or enemy Sim could probably have the option to sabotage the sonic shower so that the user teleports into the street or into a room that contains lots of people.

Futuristic Cleaning Sprinklers (University):
These blue/silver sprinklers could be placed over a toilet or bathtub in a bathroom or over the appliances in the kitchen to automatically clean any dirty objects in the room whenever they reach 'groggy green critical mass', provided that they are within 3 squares away from the sprinkler, or 9 squares away, as it could come in two varieties. the sprinkler can spray harmless blue bubbles or a thin transparent 'water' like the ordinary sprinkler. When sprinkling, Sims in the radius may cough, sneeze or if spending lots of time under a working sprinkler, may run to the toilet to ralph and chuck. The sprinkler may break like a ceiling lamp and will spurt a watery substance out that will make Sims nearby immediately vomit or sneeze in the best case. This however, will only happen if there's a job to be done. A red light on the sprinkler will light up if it is broken, also. They cannot clean objects like spoiled food or leftover newspapers, as the nanotechnology won't be able to lift them, however, the most expensive cleaning sprinkler will be able to lift empty plates and empty crisp packets. They can only be placed on a ceiling. No puddles are left behind, ever.

Ghosts can be controlled:
This mod, placed in a futuristic object, allows a Sim to socialise with ghosts on the lot as if they were ordinary sims, allowing you to build up an unseen relationship with them that can be checked up on in the object. If the ghost has a high enough relationship with the sim, you can ask him to 'move in' and he will join the household with all of his settings as they were when he died, he will not age and will remain a ghost forever, unless he wishes for the genie to bring him back to life, if he asks a witch or calls the grim reaper. They will have autonomous free will actions to go indoors when it is daytime, and they will be unable to leave the lot during the day, because they'll be out of the range of the 'Ghost Sanity Device', as it's weakened in the day. As usual, they'll be unable to visit lots unless of course, it's nighttime. If they are on another lot when the sun rises, they will scream and will teleport unwillingly back home via the assistance of the Device.

The Ultimate realistic Plantsim Mod:
This mod will remove the Plantsim leaves for hair, replace the Plantsim skin with one that only replaces the skin with a shade of green with no vines, and will leave the eyes in their own color. Essentially, the Sim will be more ordinary and realistic, they now photosynthesize instead of being likened to fairies, and will marely be a sim with a tinted, non flowery green skin. This mod could come with an object like the Servo - Sim Converter that enables a Sim to turn into a Plantsim, but not vice versa as there exists a potion. The object can convert toddlers as well. Spawning Plantbabies will be improved by having the option to spontaneously select the old option in the pie menu that will allow the Sim to go through a very swift 'pregnancy' and spawn a baby that will instead of inheriting the ideal Plantsim's genetics, will be a clone of the spawner, completely. Spores of Happiness will only effect the Energy, Comfort and Environment motives of ordinary sims, but will effect all for other Plantsims, but at a lesser rate.

Cloner and Incubator (Nightlife):
A Sim just needs to stick his head into a port to the left and must enter a few details via the computer to the side, such as preset skills. You will have the option to either have the Sim clone themselves to adulthood or have the clone emerge as a toddler. If the Sim emerges as an adult, they'll have memories for Potty Training, Walking and Talking, and if you have the $$$ and can have him emerge with 5 Skill points in Cooking, Mechanical or/and Cleaning. This will cost $7000 if you choose not to have any skills, and an extra 1000 for the 5 skill points of each of the 3 types. If you have him emerge as a toddler, they'll have learned to Walk only, and will have their base I.Q permanently doubled until they reach adulthood, similar to the Smart-milk bug, except it lasts until the last day of the teenage life stage. An adult being grown will start from appearing as a toddler in the incubator and will last a day for each age transition in the incubator. The fourth day will be spent as an adult until 6pm, where they will emerge with no hair or eyebrows and no clothes. They will emerge at the start of their adult life stage With the skills you chosen for them and a parental link to the Sim they were cloned from, to prevent incest/masturbation and to ensure they are included on their family tree. Any Sim teen and up can use the machine and the Sim generated will be either toddler or adult regardless of the age of the patient Sim. There is a small chance that the Sim clone will be made with the wrong color hair, skin or eyes, and this chance increases if a clone Sim uses the machine to clone themselves. There is also a 50% chance that the clone Sim will inherit the baldness gene. I'd suggest Albinism also, but this isn't possible in game. These measures are so the machine isn't abused.

Teleporter and Phone Summoning Pods (Apartment Life):
This Pod can be placed all over the house in pairs, and comes included with a functioning telephone attached to the left side that teleports any Sim invited to the house through the pod, bypassing the waiting time. You can also organise parties with it and bring several guests through it too. There's a small chance that people will be teleported outside the house, Social Bunny style, with a comfort drop, this applies to both residents and guests using the Teleporter. If the machine breaks, this chance rises sharply, and anybody attempting to fix the teleporter with a low mechanical skill may be electricuted and teleported outside the house or off the lot. There can also be smaller, microwave sized versions that can spawn any leftovers from the fridge or any served food placed into the other paired counterpart in the kitchen. These teleporters also include a telephone on top of it that come with a special option to order food delivery and spawn it through the teleporter, such as pizza or chinese as well as any restaurant foods. These spawns also cost the same amount of food points they represent in the fridge, in Simoleons.

Vacation Helicopter (Bon Voyage, Apartment Life):
Simply a mod that will allow you to use your helicopter that will take your vacationing Sims to their vacation home, it will land out front of the house, unless there's a helipad available. You can also use it to go to a hotel instead, where the helicopter will sit outside until you want to leave. Additionally, you can use it to go on the tours, available for free.

The Works of Judd Apatow (Or anyone else)(Freetime):
Simply, more options are added to the Comedy section of the pie menu for your Sims to watch 'Superbad', 'Knocked Up', 'The 40 Year Old Virgin', 'Funny People', and many others. They will appear as small clips from the movies at a similar length to ordinary Sim movies. Other movies by other directors could also be used, all with an increased fun gain than the maxis movies. Judd Apatow is merely an example. Simlish subtitles could also be used.

Acne is fixed:
Instead of acne showing in teenagers with low hygiene, it appears randomly to compliment real life. It will also show in young adults. The chances of it showing will be 70% to match the real life statistic, which is actually 80%. In YA, it will show 20%.

Stand-up Comedian Mod (Freetime):
This mod increases the visitors of a community lot with a microphone on it 10 fold, and a random person, or your Sim if you wish, can get up on stage and sing or do stand-up and people will watch, if you place seats near the stage, people will sit on them like a real comedy club. If people are dining nearby the performance, they will watch while they eat their food. The ADD for the performer reaching max fun motive will also be removed, and they will perform for a maximum of 2 in game hours at a time. A new option will be added to the microphone called 'Open Mic Night' that allows your Sim to macro performances one after the other. If you have a business lot with it on it, you can hire someone to perform and people on the lot will be charged every 10 in game minutes, half of the money going to the owner of the lot and the other going to the performer. The higher the creativity skill of the performer, the higher the fun increase of people watching and the amount of money they'll have to pay to see them on an owned lot. On an owned lot, the act will also increase customer loyalty stars. If you don't hire a performer, people will perform for you and will receive money in the same way one who you hire would. Especially good acts will also receive attention from people watching who will attempt to socialise with your Sim or offer your Sim a spot at level 1 in Entertainment if you have AL. People will also attempt to network if you own AL.

I hope you like all of those, I'm sure there's more, but I'll post them later as I think of them. I hope they are possible, because they would be very good gameplay enhancers.

Nothing in the DC gets rid of the idle animations. I was answering separate questions. I don't know of anything that gets rid of those, but they don't bother me and I haven't exactly looked.

In the DC, I believe it is ftminifix or alfixes that quells the excessive greeting. ALfixes is critical if you have Apartment Life: You need it unless you want your sims randomly losing cell phones or date rewards getting stuck on apartment lots, etc.

To remove the idle animations that came with FT you need "Stop All Hobby Related Idle Gestures" from simwardrobe.
You can find it here: Sims 2>Fixes>FreeTime Fixes

Is there a hack which allows all in game camera shots to be ordered as a print, not just those taken by the 'take photo' interaction?

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Right, I actually managed to read some of this before deciding you were an idiot.  Let me address some of these:

Quote
Growable Money Trees

What's the point?  In TS3 growing money trees is actually sort of difficult, since you have to actually find the seeds first.  Basically, you're suggesting that TS2 sims just spend some negligible amount of aspiration points to be able to buy something for $20 and sell it for $40, as often as they want.  There's already way too much money in TS2 - this would just make it worse.

Quote
Growable Ambrosia

There's already Elixer of Life.  If that's not good enough, Pes has converted the turn-elders-back-into-adults thing, which you can buy for $50K.

Quote
Replicator

Making shittons of food that never goes bad, ever, is already incredible easy, especially when it's sparkly Seasons food.  No point.

Quote
Sim-Servo Converter

To turn a sim into a servo, just have them activate a servo.  I don't know what the point of turning a servo into a sim is, since it will just be a clone of whatever sim activated it in the first place, except that it will have a boring face-template face.  Boring.

Quote
Sonic Shower

Sounds like you just want a recolored shower that sims use while clothed.  I'm sure someone has done it already.

Quote
Cleaning Sprinklers

Automatic cleaning things would be nice, but having them cause sims to barf is just annoying.

Quote
Controllable Ghosts

This is the number one thing that most people hated about TS3.  Why bring it to TS2?

Quote
Plantsim Mod

Just make aliens, FFS.

Quote
Cloner

Cloned sims are boring.  See servo answer.

I stopped reading at this point, though I'd be really surprised if someone hasn't already made the acne mod.

Also:  This is not a hack request site.  If you want to find something you think may already exist (like the acne mod) post in the WCIF thread.  Don't post here demanding that people make you things.  If you really want them, figure out how to make them yourself.  If they're really as awesome as you claim, chances are that someone already made them.  If no one else has made them, stop for a minute and ask yourself why.

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Oh, please...

How about a complete set of modified EAxis careers with more reasonable salaries, to keep sims from getting so rich that ALL of them can afford hottubs, sports cars and more pieces of expensive art than you can shake a paintbrush at?

How about a mod to adjust Bladder function so that it doesn't take them forty minutes or more to piddle?

How about a nice hack to keep a kid from getting filthy when all he's doing, all day long, is sitting on the damned couch with his nose in a book (as per "The Trash Doesn't Need Emptied Eleventyone-Thousand Times A Day, Especially Not In The Middle of a Thunderstorm, You Obsessive Little Punk" Law.)

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Growable Money Trees (Seasons):
When first placing the money tree reward, upon first harvest, you can choose from the pie menu to 'add it to stock' or something to that effect. An option would appear within the soil tiles to plant 'Money tree - $20'. Alternatively, this option could appear provided the money is available.
Can made if it can be meshed.

Uh...that is gross. Really gross. I am pretty sure only the real Stupidgoth would drink that. Have you SEEN what comes out of ghosts?

Converted Sims 3 Replicator:
Possibly in different colourings, it could be converted into an Aspiration reward and made with the same features. It would be wise IMO, to remove the inherited food spoilage. I suggest that you could place household waste into it, such as items like remaining food that is spoiled or plantlife in the garden, futuristically rearranging the elements into the required food, with a reasonable chance that you could generate a spoiled copy.
Been done already.

Been done already.

CAN be done, but not worth the benefits.

The Ultimate realistic Plantsim Mod:
This mod will remove the Plantsim leaves for hair, replace the Plantsim skin with one that only replaces the skin with a shade of green with no vines, and will leave the eyes in their own color. Essentially, the Sim will be more ordinary and realistic
Say what?
