thanks again, nectere!  I've found it and it should definitely come in handy - I like the idea that I can give my sim a cell phone for just as long as is necessary, then take the darn thing away again!

It's also handy for satisfying those annoying "Buy a Cell Phone" wants that pop up even when your Sim already has a cell phone.  Use the money tree object to "Remove Cell Phone", then "Give Me a Cell Phone".  You get the aspiration points without the hassle.
