Glass Ceiling Hack?

Sagana:
I might like harder harder jobs also, but I'd really like the option from the original post to decide where you want a sim to stop on an individual basis. Here's a sim that's 'ok you're a science teacher' or hey, he's a sculpter and I don't want them to go on and be something else - that's their 'career'.

I do love harder jobs (tho I forget I'm even using that) and really really like the 'there can be only one' to certain careers. Would even like some limits to some of the others as well, maybe not one but just a few in any area. How many mad scientists does a place really need?

Horanda:
There is room for more mad scientists, I'm more concerned about the types of jobs where there really IS only one (like Mayor), or a small, finite number (like Chief of Staff).

Hecubus:
Perhaps, rather than having the promotion foisted upon you, you get to choose whether to accept it? That way, your happy-being-a-DJ slacker sim can stay a DJ.

Tamha:
Now that I like! "Promotions Optional" is a decent way to go, but then I'd worry about people who want to put off promotion (rather than preventing it forever) wanting to use the option so it needs to come up every couple of Sim days, and those who want to stop progress completely. It would make it more difficult to try accommodating both.

ScoobyDoo:
To bad you can't do a pay increase while staying at the same job level.  That way you can stay as a DJ but get better pay.  I suppose you could turn them into seperate careers.
