I was thinking along those lines as well - the quieter-doorbell hack by JMP. Can't imagine that it wouldn't work on a vamp, it works for everyone else in the house.

I found, that if you befriend the gypsies - they stop to visit your house. I have two of them, and on their second visit, I befriended them to my sims. I didn't see them anymore...:).
