What the hell is this now???

If it's only happening with that table, I'd say the most obvious first step would be to try a different table. The only time I've had the stove problem you mentioned was when I was using a dorm fridge, since the stove didn't see anything in the fridge it could have been used to cook.

I've also had houses where the guests seemed to "lose" the front door, but in those cases the door wasn't on a diagonal.

Good luck!

Yup, you guys are brilliant and my brain is in a vicodin induced stupid state and can't even think.  I believe that the two lots the stove thing is happening, the fridges are in a diagonal and that never ocurred to me to be the problem, even though I thought that's what must be going on with my front door.  And, the simplest thing is to get rid of the furniture and test some other, but I thought, oh, simple, non-hacked objects can't affect gameplay like this.

I will check and hopefully this will end the problem.

I never underestimate the ability of this game to break itself in various and unexpected ways, even without any hacks or mods to poke it with. You never know if there's some oddity about a cc mesh that the sims' animations are forced to compensate for or maneuver around, or some bizarre alignment of the planets in which an object spills over its tiles just enough to get the family cat stuck underneath it... I once downloaded a very chic dress that looked *fantastic* in-game, but while wearing it, the sim herself became clickable from, like, across the room, and it was impossible to click on anything else within a 5- or 6-tile radius of her. So there's no telling what a simple-enough-seeming, non-hacked piece of cc is up to when you're not looking ;o)

I've wondered the same... :)

It seems that Maxis EA has used the same mesh for the fruit trees in Seasons. In my orchard, it is impossible to pick anything from thre radius of few tiles of the fruit trees - first you have to remove the tree, pick the thing, then put the tree back. Very annoying...

Well, my view is, why have an option if it doesn't work?  I mean, in terms of the diagonals.  The other day I noticed one of my cats being very perturbed because she was trying to get on a counter that I had placed at an angle and of course couldn't.  If fridges and front doors, for example,  don't work properly, why then allow for them to be placed like that?  Oh well.
