Shopping townies

Been so long since I've played, I can't remember... When townies shop do their funds deplete over time or do they get a random amount each time they enter the lot. I know they run out of money in a single shopping session, but will they have more money when they come back?

Plus, should you have a townie move in after a while and become playable, you'll usually find a whole lot of expensive stuff in their inventory you can sell to increase the household funds. :)
