Can't install Life Stories

Hi,
I have been trying to install Life Stories to no avail and yes I have the latest Directx version.
Here's where it goes bad - When it gets to the EULA page the box where the legal mumbojumbo should be is empty and when I hit yes it says I don't have the latest Directx version and closes up! ???
Ack! Any thoughts?

Have you tried manually updating DirectX? It's possible something about it is in fact outdated.
