Well, the reason it's positive is because of the teen rating and bastards who will accuse sims of being some sort of evil device. More evidence of this, is available in the want to bite another sim, where the flavour text reads that they "want more vampire friends". They don't seem mean at all, yet some sims hate them. Reason? Well, in their pursuit not to offend crazy far-right catholic lawyers, they've created racism.
I'm sure Maxis expects the community to change this to suit their needs, though. It's just *they* can't put it in themselves.

Hey, cool name ideas Trubble & Cyperangel, mind if I plagiarise? I wondered how I could keep generations straight in my mind, I was reluctantly thinking of doing family charts in Visio or something but it all just seems so anal at that stage. I already have Uni triplets called Alpha, Beta and Delta ;)
Jordi has a name pack out too, I'm using that next time I create some townies. :) MikeInside has a name generater program on his site on MTS2. Or there's the old hobbit name generator on the net, wonder if it's still there?

I understand that it might put the rating up or some such thing, but I would have gone about it differently - simvampires choose to bite their close friends and bring them over to vampire life, or choose to "drain" their enemies as it were - they could possibly stop before the needs got too low, or kill them completely. Oh damn, I don't have NL yet, I would have assumed it would be what you said, drain enemies, convert friends. The vampires should particularly like to drain virgin YAs, making it a bit dangerous downtown.
Maybe this should be a hack for the wishlist. Make vampires behave like vampires.

This one is not what you were searching for, but the rarity scale is useful for me.
