Biting Rules
Ancient Sim:
I'm not the first person to say this, but I do feel that the criteria for what causes a vampire to bite a Sim is a little strange. Last night, Lilith Pleasant (4 days to popping her clogs) took exception to Count Wayne Gallagher (probably didn't like his name) and before I knew it they were fighting. Lilith won. Before this, he'd been arguing with Don Lothario (2 or 3 days to second death) and after the first fight finished, he was fighting with Don. Don won and after a few more interchanges, the Count turned into a bat and flew off. Don wasn't defending Lilith incidentally, he doesn't like her either. Both Lilith and Don are 100% fit, incidentally. Lilith has been a General for years and Don is almost at the top of the Athletic career. This is the second enemy he has made through fighting on dance floors.
The Count was -100/-100 towards both of these two. Now, the way I see it, that would be all the reason he would need to bite their necks like he'd never bitten a neck before. But the way the game works, they only bite people they like? Does this mean the game is saying that vampirism is something positive rather than negative, because I would have thought that would depend on the aspiration of the Sim. I know aspiration is taken into account, but only when the relationship is positive. It seems that when it's negative, the vampires just become like ordinary Sims and follow the usual negative actions of fighting and so on. Maybe the nastier ones (this Count has 3 in Nice) at least should be more likely to bite their enemies.
Trubble:
You've picked up on what I find a bit pointless about the whole thing.
I understand that it might put the rating up or some such thing, but I would have gone about it differently - simvampires choose to bite their close friends and bring them over to vampire life, or choose to "drain" their enemies as it were - they could possibly stop before the needs got too low, or kill them completely. I would have liked this better ;)
Ancient Sim:
Yes, that's a good idea, draining them. I saw someone else mention that somewhere, may have been you. I think it should depend on aspiration as to whether they bite their enemies or not -the aspiration of the bitee, that is. I don't even have a vampire yet because I'm waiting for it to happen 'naturally', although after 10 days of waiting I think I might have to give in and cheat. I could have used influence, but I don't even want to do that. I only have 3 Sims with vampiric relationships almost at friend level and I don't really fancy having any of them as vampires. I did get one to invite her vamp friend to a group outing though and the vamp ended-up alone on a table with my Self Sim, who is definitely vampire material (rofl), so I think I will pursue that relationship now it's been established. Unfortunately, the vampire had to rush off because daylight interfered with the socialising.
I have this horrid feeling that once I actually get a vampire, I am going to be disappointed. The zombies became boring very quickly, I know that. I probably won't let them stay vampires long anyway, it just means more lots to play if the characters never die and new ones keep being born.
J. M. Pescado:
Actually, vampires mean LESS characters to play. If a character is immortal, then he does not need to be played to maintain time-sync with the rest of the neighborhood. So if you turn the sole member of the household into a vampire, he won't ever NEED to be played unless you feel like it, since he'll always be in sync with the neighborhood: He's immortal.

I found them to be quite boring. They sleep all day in their coffins and at 7:00 p.m. sharp, the rise and you take care of whatever needs they have and they are good to go until the sun comes up. It's as if they are under a constant regeneration cycle while it is dark. Once they eat or use the bathroom, etc., at night, they never need to do so again until daylight comes around, then their needs start to fall off. I suppose that is good if you want to spend all night with them at a club downtown, or have them as knowledge sims and study all night.
