Cars, Aspirations, and Attraction.
sara_dippity:
Somewhere I saw a list for what kind of aspiration likes what kind of cars. It affected dating somehow. Anyone know that information or where to find it? I know some of them are probably obvious, like minivans and family, pleasure and sports (cheese? What whould they like?) but also what does it do? Does it give a boost to the date score, or to attraction? Or if they like the car, is the car more efficient in the motives it raises?
Motoki:
Hmm,, I also wonder how the hotrod fits in there because not everyone has that one.
Where was this list at, on sims2.com?
Gus Smedstad:
I suspect that's a Sim Urban Legend. The cars seem like fairly ordinary Sim objects, with bonuses that improve with cost. So far I've only used the Sedan, but it seems fairly cost efficient - a big boost in Energy as you change lots for not too many Simoleons.

From the Prima Guide: (which I know isn't always the best authority on things, but... well, here it is anyway)
Tip: Leaving for a date in the date's personality / Aspiration-preferred car is a Date Event and provides an increase in the Date points before your Sim reaches the Community Lot. This isn't, literally, a difference in initial Date score, but an off-screen scoring opportunity. The effect, however, is the same.
Here are the scores for each vehicle by personality / Aspiration, according the the Date Event chart on pages 37-39 of the Guide (numbers for personality affect Date Score, numbers for Aspiration affect the aspiration score of the Sim being picked up):
Hunka 711 Hwang Motors:
Base Score: 85
Personality Outgoing: 40
Personality Shy: -10
Aspiration Fortune: 50
Aspiration Family: -30
Landwhale by Haeveola:
Base Score: 45
Personality Shy: 30
Personality Outgoing: -10
Aspiration Family: 50
Aspiration Romance: -150 (ouch!)
Smoogo Minima:
Base Score: 10
Personality Sloppy: 20
Personality Neat: -10
Aspiration Knowledge: 10
Aspiration Fortune: -30
Smord P328:
Base Score: 35
Personality Active: 30
Personality Lazy: -10
Aspiration Pleasure: 20
Aspiration Knowledge: -10
Yomoshoto Evasion:
Base Score: 65
Personality Series: 30
Personality Playful: -10
Aspiration Knowledge: 20
Aspiration Pleasure: -10

Ok, I found the source of the rumor. Maxis chat.

Aside from a higher room score, what benefits does a sim have from a classier rather than cheaper car?

Some types of dates might prefer certain types of cars. Family Sims like minivans, romance Sims like sportscars... And they just look so cool ;)
Since he says "might prefer" it could be the same kind of "might" when it was stated in a Maxis chat that some kinds of foods "might" help increase the chances of twins.
Edit to add ~ Never mind. During my intense searching someone came along with the book. Thank you someone with the book!!!
