Mouse Problems

I need some holy water; my mouse is possessed. It randomly moves the cursor to some extreme of the monitor, but my hand hasn't moved. It's one of those laser mice; no wheel or ball involved. Is there some setting that needs to be reset, or does this sound like a hardware issue?

miros:
Sounds like hardware.

I had a similar problem with a Keyboard/Monitor/Mouse switch.  I had to get a second mouse and plug one mouse directly into each computer.

Rose Outlaw:
On what kind of surface do you put your mouse?

I got a real cheap, tiny wired laptop laser mouse and tried it right on my desk - kind of polished wood - just to find out it was a real pain to click anything specific.
Then I placed it on a regular mouse pad and tadaa, easy going.

But if a pad doesn't help, it strongly sounds like a hardware problem.

Or could it be that you have some remains of old mouse drivers still stuck in your system?

blubug:
It happens to me too occasionally, but I never questioned it, just cursed and wiggled it around (and giggled a couple of times like a baby gazing at a crib-mobile-maybe even gurgled too).

It only happens randomly and only when I'm not touching the mouse. :) teehee
(I use an un-shiney matte wood surface, I hate mousepads. I feel the boundaries and get annoyed at slipping off of it's edge :))

Mine's so shiny... well it truely is, thanks to four blue illuminating LED lights. ;)
And it serves as a USB hub, so I'm quite happy with it.
