Game freezes when taking a photo
Stephsim:
Hey peoples,
I know I dont post here much but I was hoping someone around here might know how to fix this
Lately whenever I try to take a picture in the game the game completely freezes. The "click click" sound keeps repeating in a loop and I cant do anything. Sometimes I even have to reboot the computer.
I know the simple answer is: "Dont take pictures then!", but.... I like taking pictures of my stupid sims!
Tried searching around here but didnt find anything useful. Any ideas? ???
Oh yeah I have windows XP with 512 MB RAM and 3 gig processor if that helps.

Having 512 MB of RAM on a 3 GHz process is like putting a jet engine on a WW1 biplane. Get more RAM.

You took the words right out of my mouth. 1GB of ram is the absolute minimum you should have with that CPU. Go for 2GB while you're at it.

The same problem occurred in my game, and I my computer has 1Gb of RAM.
At that time, updating the nvidia drivers seemingly solved the problem, but I should warn you that newer drivers can cause problems.
Others (and myself :P) have been reporting that the newer drivers cause system instability and game crashes too, and the only way to get rid of them is to downgrade the nvidia drivers to an earlier version.
By the way, after downgrading my drivers, I can still take pictures, maybe it's a problem that was fixed in OFB?

While we are on the topic of the stupid camera....
Is there any way to get rid of the flash? At night, every time I take a picture, I'm left with nasty washed out gunk on the screen until I move the camera. I hate it! The flash is so annoying. I would kill for a hack to make it stop.
Back on topic...
I have had my game slow down when taking pictures, but not freeze. Going back to the 77.77 drivers (nVidia) fixed that problem. I recommend trying different drivers when stuff like this starts to happen in your game, especially when it begins after updating drivers.
