Novel Progress Bar and hacked computers

I have downloaded the novel progress bar hack and have also been using a hacked computer with lots of "goodies" on it.  When my Sim writes a novel on this hacked computer, the novel progress bar does not show up.  Is this because of the computer?  Can I only use your hack on the Maxis computers?

F.Y.I. - I went ahead and bought my Sim family a Maxis-made computer and found that the novel progress bar worked fine there, but will not work with the hacked computer that I had.
