Fix major scrach on nightlife cd. Any suggestions?

In the future, try resurfacing. This can be done really cheap.

Get any kind of metal or copper polish and apply it generously using a thin cloth, in a radial direction. Continue until the level of polish is spread evenly across the surface (the scratches should be completely filled).
Rinse it off under flowing water, then continue the cleaning by using a new wet cloth and again in a radial direction wipe off any remaining water and polish.
Let it dry, and in most cases the CD will work again. Make a 1:1 disc copy and in the future use your copy disk. Use a no CD patch or mini-image to play (this is perfectly legal).

Edit: Well I bought another copy of Nightlife and reinstalled again so I have to start everything all over again >:(
See, like the big sucker you are, you went and bought another one, thus reinforcing EA's decision to use substandard CDs.

I'm sorry you had to buy a new copy of the game.  Perhaps this would have been of some help:

Usually if you've already bought a game that requires a CD they'll use your registration as proof of it and will sell you a new CD at a much lower price (like $5) if yours gets damaged.

Also, at my house we have this thing called the Scratch Doctor that resurfaces CDs, and I've seen that thing repair some pretty nasty scratches.  It would have to be extremely deep for something like that to not work.

What and never play the Sims again?  I may be a "sucker" but at least I am back to playing. Plus I don't like to repeat history with the mistakes I've done in the past.

I agree with you JM on the crappy cd quality that EA brings out.
