This looks more like it!  I was think of the place where the British Government planned to run the resistance from in WWII if we lost the war.  I can't remember what it was called, or I'd google it!

It was still a bit too close to WW2 when I was at school for it to have reached the history syllabus!  I only know what I do from what I've been told or read or seen on TV and the old newsreels.

Well, I'll try and explain.  I have visions of Churchill being stuck on this spiral staircase in the WWII Bunker, with only his cigar visible, and a couple of marines coming to the rescue.
