Yep, it's real. I spent some time going through all the chance cards in the debug cheat and writing down their rewards and/or punishments.

Man, the Uni careers are a mess, though.

Ask For Help:
Good: Promo
Bad: Fired/Demoted, Lose 1 days wages

Use Cheap Coverup:
Good: +$5000
Bad: Fired

I just had 30 students graduate and when they got to work, they reach plat the first day.  I them have them start a Uni career.  It is so annoying that they are promoted so fast because they really need the money.  One time, I sent them to level four after they got to the top because they needed the money so bad.
