I reckon something like this takes me 30-40 hours. I look for something that inspires an idea on the internet, then I search on floor plans, colour scheme and decor. Then comes the shell, getting proportions and light right, with a runway for the sims so they don't get stuck routing so much. Finally I decorate more-or-less room by room. Light adjustments and gardens come last.

I have spent two evenings so far on a new house, which is ALMOST COMPLETELY UNLIKE this house in every way.  8)
