It's not against the rules to help. It's frowned upon when the questions been asked and answered, that's when the only advice should be lurk moar or you're doing it wrong. Usually when you go to help someone they want you to hold their hand, like this MacTard, or they see your help as not the answer they were looking for or you being snarky, like in this case.
