Vacationing sim baffled by mysterious red/pink blinking light on sinks

My sim was visiting the Lu residence in Shang Simla and noticed the sink in the upstairs bathroom was blinking.



He wanted to investigate but decided instead to holla at Sima Zhi, who is a good bit svelter than usual in this incarnation. Afterwards, he went back to check out the blinking sink only to find that both of the bathroom sinks and the kitchen sink were all now pulsating con gusto. Tinkering with one until it gained the Unbreakable upgrade did not make the blinking stop. There are no unusual interactions on the sinks. They work fine, my sim brushed his teeth and washed his hands successfully. My sim doesn't have any Handiness opportunities. In short, my sim and I haven't seen anything like it and are completely mystified. It doesn't seem to be causing any problems but if anybody has an explanation, I'm a head full o' ears. It is a symbol that a teenager booby trapped the sink. A Generations thing.
