Can Not Install Awesome Mod post Ambitions
Aeschere:
Before you ask, yes I searched however I couldn't find anything pertaining to my particular problem.
I've seen threads mentioning game crashes and freezes, this isn't what I'm experiencing. Instead, I'm getting that handy pop-up that tells you when you have a mod conflicting with your game.
First things first, I am running The Sims 3, Ambitions, and Late Night on Mac OS X 10.5.8. My game is version 6.0.81.009001.
I read this thread and tried both solutions, however I'm still getting the same error.
I've installed the framework both manually and using Marhis' framework installer at MTS in the traditional (pre-ambitions) directory.
Here I've placed awesome.package and the configuration file, I have other content in the new directory (under documents) for testing purposes.
I've determined that my problem isn't framework fail (per-se) because The Sims 3 acknowledges Awesome Mod (in both directories) but opts not to run it. Plus all my other custom content works fine.
I've deleted all cache files which Awesome Mod sometimes requires for installation but this doesn't seem affect the outcome.
I've placed d3dx9_31.dll in both my expansion-pack Bin folders.
My Resource.cfg file in the pre-ambitions comes from Marhis' tool and reads as follows:
Code:
Priority 501
DirectoryFiles Mods/Files/... autoupdate
Priority 500
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*/*/*.package
Priority 499
PackedFile Mods/Test/*.package
Priority -50
PackedFile Mods/Probation/*.package
My Resource.cfg in the Documents directory comes from MTS and reads as followed:
Code:
Priority 501
DirectoryFiles Files/... autoupdate
Priority 500
PackedFile Packages/*.package
PackedFile Packages/*/*.package
PackedFile Packages/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Packages/*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Packages/*/*/*/*/*.package
Priority 499
PackedFile Test/*.package
PackedFile Test/*/*.package
PackedFile Test/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Test/*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Test/*/*/*/*/*.package
Priority -50
PackedFile Probation/*.package
PackedFile Probation/*/*.package
PackedFile Probation/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Probation/*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Probation/*/*/*/*/*.package
Priority 500
PackedFile DCCache/*.dbc
Other notes:
If I tell the prompt to not quit on load, everything loads fine until you get to the save-game selection screen when the application quits suddenly.
From what I understand many people are using the old framework with Awesome Mod just fine. I can't find any possible reason why it doesn't work.
Also, even without Late Night I get the same problem.
Maybe someone can tell me what exactly is wrong here, or if it's what I first suspected: another case of EA screwing over Mac users.
EDIT: I just thought of something, when I first encountered this problem it was after I installed Ambitions, which was after the patch to get the game ready for Late Night. My problem might be because Awesome Mod isn't compatible with that patch, but this I am unsure. Either way, any verification anyone can give me on the issue will be appreciated.
wizard_merlin:
Which version of AM are you running? Make sure you have the right fucking version first.
claudiasharon:
I had that error on a PC and I had an outdated AM version, so when I updated it the error went away.
Aeschere:
I'm using the newest Awesome Mod.
I reinstalled everything earlier today and downloaded everything fresh. I'm thinking what I edited at the bottom of my post is the actual problem.
JamesNine:
You'll probably need to wait until Awesomemod is compatible with the patch... or until the patch is compatible with Awesomemod, whichever one comes first. You can always try the test version of Awesomemod if you know where to look, that's working for me.
