If that's not it, try using just the decrapify function without compressing the file.
Sorry, but how's that done exactly? I would think that would mean dragging and dropping on decrapify.exe, yes? I've tried that - same result. Also when I do decrapify it, the size in KB before and after does not alter. I've made sure to update the tools, and the process works as expected with that greenhouse shit; so I'm lost as to why the Japanese set alone is giving me such grief.
If the packages won't open in s3pe you did something wrong, simple as that. Just make sure everything is up-to-date and try again maybe. Are you using the program or drag-n-drop? For the program make sure decrapped is ticked, for drag-n-drop make sure the packs are in the same folder as the .exes and make sure the time stamp on them changed. You don't have to decrap them if you're using packages so just dragging them onto s3cr will allow you to open them with s3pe.

Oh well.
Like I said, I've done this before. Probably 100 times. Successfully. My usual method - decrapify, extract with Multi Installer, merge in S3PE - continues to works with other Sims3Packs, like the recent Greenhouse set, but continues to fail every time I try to do the same with the Japanese dining set. I already mentioned in the post you quoted that I've ensured the tools I'm using are up-to-date. I've tried decrapifying via the program AND by dragging and dropping. I know decrapify needs to be ticked - as I've said, I know how to do this and it's worked and still works with every other set. So I'm perplexed. But again: Oh well. I can live without it. Or use the Sims3Pack.
ETA: Oh, and Baa anyway!

I was going to suggest redownloading the set, because maybe the file was having issues.

Hello,
I would like to ask, does anyone also has a problem with Greenhouse glass roofs not showing up in the game? (I tried to re-download, re-install, I DO have Store Fixes).
JustASimmer:
Hi, I have a quick question.
I've already decrapified the store items I had bought legally a while ago (I know, I know, why the hell would I?!).
When downloading sets from your downloads thread, will there be duplicates of items I had decrapified already?
Example: I have the "Sagittarian Dream" dress that was part of the "Boho Vintage Women's Collection"; If I download that collection and decrapify it, will I have two decrapified Sagittarian Dream dresses?
I know that if you have vanilla istore items mixed with decrapified items you have duplicates, just was not sure if it worked the same way for decrapified content.
