The first page of the Patch 1.38 thread has a list of changed references(?). IIRC, it mentions the magic items.

Well so far I've noticed that the voodoo doll works like it should, curse and transform works as intended. I'm trying to get the other two to work, I might just be doing it wrong though.

kissing_toast, SimGuruSarah has a thread at the Sims site about the updates to the magic items. Here is what she says about that "I'm here to tell you about how the The Sims 3 Supernatural is going to enhance existing magic items that are available on The Sims 3 Store! These items will not be included in Supernatural, but if you've purchased them from the Store, you'll get the benefits of these special effects" - I took it that if you had those items, the benefits are already there in Supernatural and all you have to do is install the EP.

I managed to get that one to work, but I am experiencing error code 16 even using "save as". Seeing as I have gotten the same error from a "perfectly working" Sims 3, what is causing it could be anything or the funky install. I am waiting on a new copy, but at least I have something to fuck with while waiting.

If you have them directly from the store, that should be the how things work, seeing as most here have them decrapified, it may not be that simple.
