Converting skins into defaults without Bodyshop
rufio:
I have some skins. I want to make them into defaults. The only tutorials I can find out there involve using Bodyshop to extract the textures from the skins, but my Bodyshop always crashes when it tries to start up, no matter what I do. Surely there must be a way to get the images out of SimPE without resorting to EA's borked and bloated CC programs, although I don't see all the TXTRs in the package that would correspond to the ones in the default replacement packages I have to look at. Anyone know how to get them out?

I had always planned to try this myself, but never quite had the time to do so. I do remember seeing HP's Mixed Method to create smaller files. She doesn't mention using Body Shop as an absolute necessity, but if this isn't exactly what you need check the comments for other ideas.
rufio:
That does look like what I was looking for, but in the meantime I did some more rigorous googling and found this thread and tried it, and it seems to work. Since it also requires that you keep the original skin, it may just be the same thing, but automated by SimPE.
tryclyn:
Good luck and if you get a time parameter of less than an hour, for each skin start to finish, I may consider trying it for myself.
rufio:
Took maybe a couple minutes, tops. It did sound like it was really working and/or freezing at first (which honestly, seems to be what SimPE does most of the time anyway), but I brought up another window and by the time I looked back, it was done.
