Unable to patch to 1.6.6 after re-install.

After recently allowing patch 1.8 to bork my game, I decided my best option would be to re-install and only patch up to 1.79. I had no trouble patching up to 1.4, but now I keep getting the following error when trying to patch any further.
I'm currently on 1.4.6.00107 to be exact, digital download version of the game.
Does anyone have any idea on the cause of this, or any possible fixes?

From the error message I'd hazard a guess that the patch itself might be corrupted? Try downloading the patch again - or does everything happen through the launcher for the digital games?

I did download the patch again, another two times but still to no avail. I got them from simprograms though, no use of the launcher since that wants to patch me straight to 1.8, which I am specifically trying to avoid.

I THINK the patches you refer to are not compatible with the digital download game version. Someone else may have more info.

Maybe you can skip 1.6.6 and patch straight to 1.7.9 from 1.4.6 ?
