Do great-grandchildren satisfy wants for grandchildren?

I have an elder sim whose lifetime want is to have six grandchildren. He already has three grandchildren, but his only son just died. If I get one of his grandchildren to have three kids will his LTW be satisfied?

Seeing as I don't think that Sims recognize great-grandchildren as family this probably won't work. If not, would it be possible to make a hack that causes family members to actually recognize that they are related to someone if they've met them before?

Nope. You're just buggered. Sorry. Family sims are annoying like that. What's more, you probably weren't going to get this one satisfied even if you had children still alive and spawning, because there's bugs associated with indirect want satisfying. Shoulda thought about that before you killed his son.

I do not understand.

wishy-washy:
I mean that underneath someone's name in the relationships panel if they're related it usually says "Family." I don't think it does this for great-grandchildren.

Keep him young with elixir, get him rich, let him adopt some kids and keep him alive till they have theirs.  Or just say sorry, no platinum gravestone for you!

J. M. Pescado:
You can still get your platinum gravestone even without the LTW. You'll just have to do things the annoying, old-fashioned way. Hopefully all of his wants slots won't be "play handheld game with person who doesn't live here and doesn't have one".
