Can you hear the doorbell?

Lion:
When my sim invites a friend over and the friend rings the doorbell, there's no doorbell sound. I saw people mentioning that they hear doorbell from neighbor's house, and it looks like the patch might have fixed it. I started with Patch1.3, and I have never heard doorbell, thus missing a few visitors that my sim was waiting for in the beginning.   With only AwesomeMod in (need the no-cd), still no doorbell. I wonder if it's just me.
