I have not noticed any effect. A Sim with red as favourite colour placed in a completely red room, with red furniture, while wearing red clothes, gets no buff or moodlet that the same Sim with other clothes in another room does not.
But did you then try deleting everything and replacing it with (more expensive) blue stuff? ~_^
After the giant colour thread on sims 2, I'm waiting for hard, code evidence before I subscribe to any colour theories.

Ah, the Gali methodology. Since disproven, I think. :P

Red is actually my (current) favourite colour, but placed in a red room, with red furniture, wearing red clothes, I think I would quickly get an "insane" trait, not just buff. So maybe it's not that bad that they didn't finish that code...

I've seen two sims chatting on the bed about their favorite colors. Do not remember if that resulted in any negative bubbles. Favorite food only has a use when another sim rolls want to cook your sims' favorite meal. Favorite music decides which radio station the sim will always turn on. I imagine most players have sounds muted though.

I experimented a bit to see if maybe dressing other sims in another's favorite color had anything to do with attraction. Each had two different traits in common and he hooked up with the same girl twice. This means nothing, though, because of the traits system. I suspect that some are more heavily weighted than others. But it would be interesting to see the results of a real test.
