Hex values for favorite colors

CheritaChen:
Are you saying that the color next to her code looks nothing like the sea foam in the game, or that when you use the hex code given in the game, it isn't the right color? Because the game may be rendering the color according to some unique EAxian standard. Unless there was a typo in Kyna's post, though, the code doesn't lie.

Thanks for the effort, Kyna. I'm not inclined to mess with NW because of my fear of borkage, and I did want this info just in case the colors become relevant at a later date. I can see how close my guesses were for some of them, too!

that looks nothing like sea foam in game.  It should be a sort of cloudy white.

I agree that that one doesn't look right in the game.  I didn't use copy/paste, so there are several places where I could have made a transcription error or typo.  Double-checking it now.

EDIT: Used copy/paste this time, to rule out transcription errors.  Miraj Alvi has sea foam as his favourite colour.  Neighbourhood Workshop lists his favourite colour as 4279166686.  Converting that to hexadecimal gives ff0ee6de.  Dropping the leading FF, makes the hex code for sea foam: 0EE6DE, which is what I had before.

I don't know why in-game it looks nothing like the "sea foam" favourite colour.  I wonder if it's something screwy about pre-mades?  Maybe I should try assigning that colour to a CAS sim to see if I get a different result.

EDIT2: No, I get the same result with Tessa McTesty, so it's not that the first sim was a pre-made.  Perhaps it's just the way it's displayed as a favourite, with the colour being obscured by the cloudiness all the displayed favourites have.

EDIT3: Further experimentation and I discovered that if I swap the first two digits around I get E0E6DE ███, which in-game looks a lot closer to sea foam.  So I suspect there is a transcription error, although it isn't mine.  Although I have no code evidence to support the change, I am changing the list above to use this value for sea foam.

I'm inclined to use the "wrong" code, anyway, if that's the one that's stored by the game in save files. They probably meant to use the lighter one, which better befits the description of seafoam, and somehow after they'd saved their little swatch-graphics they fucked it up. So, my guess is that the game (if it ever does so) will look for the code you found, rather than the one that matches the swatch.

Of course, it's all probably moot as they'll likely never enable the effects of favorite colors, anyway. But I do try to use them, even if only to identify objects intended to belong to specific Sims in a household.

I've used that set of pages for colors for some time now for web page colors, etc. The colors and numbers are fairly true (at least on my monitors).

Thought I'd offer that up in case anyone wants hex numbers for more than just the favorite colors. They can make altering color pallettes of patterns easier and more precise, too.

I'm inclined to believe that the Seafoam is supposed to be the greenish color, if only because I remember using Crayola crayons called "seafoam green" that were a light, bluish green.  I think EA just screwed up the hex value for the favorite color swatch.
