"No Jealousy" for AwesomeMod (as of Jul-23)
« on: 2009 July 23, 03:14:38 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Update Jul-23: Version from 7-20 works fine with the latest 7-23 version of AwesomeMod, no conflicts.

Just a bit of a merger I did between some AwesomeMod XML and some NoJealousy code I came across at SimLogical which was done by Sanati (props and e-cookies).  Personally, the jealousy stuff is (in my opinion), way overdone in the first place, and didn't work well for my "Hugh Hefner" style character at all.  This was the result, a quick merge of some XML to completely disable Jealous reactions in TS3+AwesomeMod.

Since it is a .package file, it will need to take priority over certain XML in your awesome package file.  To do that, I suggest using the Resource.cfg that is included in the .zip file.  It goes in your main "The Sims 3" program folder, overwriting your default - back that one up first if you like.  You then need to create an "Override" folder at the same level as your Packages folder (i.e. the path might be: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Override), and then drop the included .package mod file in that override directory.

That's all there is to it.  Pedophilia is still punishable per AwesomeMod standards, but your sims won't get to hating each other due to jealousy anymore.  They will of course still shoo people in the same room - nothing I can do to arrange exhibitions or "group events" since the modesty code (shooing people from the room for things like personal hygiene and sex) is embedded in the core.  Perhaps Pes' would be good enough to give us an option to disable that somewhere down the road via AwesomeMod.

Note:  If you have to ask questions like "where's my Program Files directory", then you shouldn't be trying to use this package.  I won't be providing support for it - this is purely something offered to the community for fun.  I will probably keep it updated while I play TS3 and Pescado keeps updating AwesomeMod, so you can look here later for any updates.

Edit: Yes - this works with AwesomeMod + IndyStoneMod, for those interested.  No conflicts currently.   Grin

I cant decide if i want the no-jealousy mod or not. I've added and removed it several times now. I like having jealousy, but I agree the standard jealousy was way over done. All sims are psychic and flirting with someone in the basement will suddenly wake up everyone from bedrooms 3 stories above to come shout at the guilty party. Just wish there was a way to make it room based for some interactions such as flirting, cuddling etc, floor based for others like kissing and house based for such things as whoohoo. Or something along those lines.

I think I agree in that regard - if I had my way I'd do a total revamp of the jealousy system and how the broadcaster worked.  The amount of jealousy/hate generated should be 1/4 of the default, and it should only happen when in line-of-sight of the offended sim.

Unfortunately that kind of revamp is a core vamp, and would completely conflict with AwesomeMod.  Since I like using AM quite a bit, I'm relegated to bonking jealousy down the chain to low or no impact.  I chose no impact, since it totally destroys immersion to flirt with a sim on level 4 of a mansion (on the party-roof no less), and have a romantically involved sim who is sleeping three floors down wake up, storm up, and start ranting.

Having no jealousy isn't that detracting either, since trying to keep up romantic relations with more than 2 other sims at once gets to be quite a bit of work (even with a Charisma of 9+).  Multiple significant-others doesn't gain a lot other than entertainment, and leaving jealousy at default levels impacts the game too negatively.

If/when Pescado decides to do a jealousy/modesty revamp inside AwesomeMod, things may change.   Grin

If I was going for realism, I'd make everything room-based.  Unless one of the sims woohooing is Easily Impressed, Over Emotional, Excitable, Handy (lol), Daredevil, or Inappropriate (edit: or a Rock Star)... then, just for laughs, I'd give a percentage chance to alert the whole house (chance=sim's current energy level).  Upon broadcasting the alert, even if no jealousy results, I'd also have it "Wake Up" any Light Sleepers (with a "Woohoo" thought bubble), grant "Embarrassed" to any children or teens awake in the house, and grant "Adrenaline Rush" to the woohooers.  But hey, that's just me...

Hi all,

I installed and used this mod (as instructed) which worked fine, until I realized that even the girls who are my "best friends" and who has "flirty", "party animal" traits mostly find my sim's flirty actions "amusing" and nothing more. I tried it with different persons and I noticed that this was a glitch. I removed the mod (replaced the previous resource.cfg) and all returned to normal.

I use the awesomemod with "UseAwesomeJealousy" enabled, can this glitch be caused by this? I didnt try it with this option disabled because I thought this mod already overrides related segment of it.

Don't think I'm seeing what you're seeing.

I use the latest AwesomeMod, this package, IndyMod, and many other mods.  I have three romantic interests from one male to three females on the same lot (Hugh Hefner style Sim).  His romantic and flirty actions get him points with all of them, same in return.  Like you, I also have UseAwesomeJealousy enabled.

Been playing the better half of this afternoon with it on, and it seems to be working just fine.

Must be conflicting with some other mod I've been using then. I'll look into it and try to find out (and I'll let you know if I do).
Thanx for your effort for the mod by the way, EA owes a lot to modders like you guys.

It's not working at all for me, anytime I try to interact with my girlfriend when my wife is present, and vice-versa, I get the regular red minus sign from the offended party. I'm set to use AM jelousy and have checked for incomatabilities with the indystone compatability checker as well.

Did you put the package provided in an override directory, and use the included resource.cfg file?  If you simply download this package and put it in your packages folder, it will not work.  XML files in two separate packages (like this one and AwesomeMod) overwrite each other based on some funky priority, and you need to force the override on conflicting XML manually.

Works perfectly for me.

Yes, I allready have the override directory from previous mods.   I bought my first computer in 1981, I'm not stupid, just old. That's why I'm the Old Dude.

The only thing I can think of as a possible relationship problem for you, is that you have established concrete relations with each of them - one is a wife, the other a girlfriend.  In my current game, all my relations are "romantic interests".  I have no idea how the game responds when you have your situation going on.  I can poke around in the files I grabbed and merged, and see if there are separate reactions for those kinds of relationships.

It disables same sex pregnancy, which is also in override. Is there any way to get them to work together too, or would that be too much to ask?

I would wait until Pescado implements the "science facility reproduction by test tube" feature that he mentioned elsewhere (perhaps as a joke, perhaps seriously).  The alternative is a custom merge of possibly more than one xml file.

The ideal solution, would be a tool that can work with package files and XML files, and do on-the-fly comparisons and mergers, with user control of which overrides which when differences are found.  It is unfortunate that EA had to lump so many settings together into so few files, since that is the common demoninator.

I started out doing this merger just for my own use, and had it done in around 15-20 minutes with a program called ExamDiff, and S3PE.  I don't personally have plans to integrate the same sex mod, since I'd never use it.  Plus, I have a piece of property that I'm working on right now that will take a couple weeks or more to finish, and I have SLAM upgrades to worry about on the side.  If you really want to see the two merged, do a bit of digging - it took me less than 3-4 hours total to learn the XML structure and how to use the necessary tools, from scratch.

Due to the number of conflicts between mods of this nature, I foresee the need for "core mods" like AwesomeMod to simply take over by integrating all of their features as options, eliminating the need to do mergers for each person.  That's a ways down the road though..

Pes mentioned not too long ago that he has an improvement in the works for AwesomeMod, so that it will no longer touch the Traits and Socialization XML files.  That means this particular package won't be needed in the future, and a standard NoJealousy XML tuning mod can be used instead (whenever Pes' fix goes into AM).

NoJealousy mods may still conflict with others like same-sex pregnancy, etc..  due to XML edits on same files, but that's a hose of another color.

Haven't had time to play much lately Seranation, but I will be doing some testing tomorrow, and will try adding it in since my game is patched.  It shouldn't blow anything up, as I don't think Pes has changed any of the 12-ish code in any build lately.  Will let you guys know...

Seranation, I just patched to 1.4.6.1. AwesomeMod still seems to work fine, but the game crashes for me when I add the No Jealousy patch.

Ooh, that can't be too good for my Sim and his two live-in Maids/Lovers.   Roll Eyes

Well, patching it anyway since future versions of Awesome mod will require it anyway, and testing it for myself...

-edit-

Works for me, I've patched, got the latest AwesomeMod, and no Jealousy mod is working fine.  Think it's a problem on your end?

For my "resource.cfg" that is the correct directory tree. The other packages in that override directory work just fine.
