Yeah, sucks ay?

I had huge problems finding decent default skins in TS2 that weren't giving off that inner glow. Ghastly. The bit I really don't get is why people rave about the realism of the shiny skins. To me they all looked like they had big white patches on the cheeks and foreheads, like some kind of Michael Jackson inspired skin condition.

I often thought the same thing when looking at custom skins.  Most people I know don't have shiny skin, unless they are at the beach covered in suntan oil.  In fact I know ladies who, despite the fact that they don't have shiny skin when they aren't wearing make-up, use a cosmetic called cornsilk to make their skin less shiny.

Is it fixed or is it still crashing games?

I just tried it and my game crashed. It's never crashed before, so I figured that's what did it.

I don't get the fascination either. Those skins make them look like they walk around all day with a spray bottle constantly misting themselves. It's a specific phenomena to this game series too as I have seen mods for other games that replace skins for other games and even participated in creating one (for Morrowind) and never have I come across this super shiny glossy look the Sims community loves so dearly.

The thing is, the mod I worked on for Morrowind one of the friends I worked on it with is also a game designer and I remember him telling me early on to not add light on to your texture because the game will add its own light dynamically and if you paint in light on your textures it will be static and make the objects appear flat and unrealistic. That always stuck with me.

These sims skins want to look all shiny but they just end up looking weird like someone photographed a wet shiny person and wrapped it around a cylinder or something.

We need matte tone skin replacements, and more conservative but varied hair styles.  Tongue

Does anyone know how to contact MyoS?  The new website has jack shit on it.  I guess I need to send him an email similar to the one I sent Peggy explaining why her hair was fucking up the game.

Maybe you can try  PM-ing  her at the Wickednouk forum. If she doesn't reply, try first contacting  Jessica/Dour/whoever is still running the place and ask them to either  email Myos about it or to give you  her email address.

I assume that most sims skins are made just like that: taking chunks from oiled bodybuilder and porn star photographs and photoshopping them onto game skins.

Oh, i don't know if she actually does. I just said that because they are a part of the WNF, but i don't know if any of them (Myos or Coris) stops by the forum. That's why i think  that even if they don't go to the forum and don't reply to your PM, whoever runs WNF now will know how to contact them.

This is definitely still crashing games, as of 7/13. I think it's safe to say that all these replacement hairs crash games. I ain't no modder, but I would think it's the replacement part of it. Impossible to add this as new content? GUID conflict or some such info? I read about that ages ago so I'm not sure.

Hmm, I can already see that custom content for this game, as with its predecessor, is going to be proliferated with funky layered Asian cuts and moist wet look shiny skins.

Yeah, sucks ay?

I find that they tend to look like a glazed ham. My cohorts and I refer to it as Flaming Sternum Syndrome. Have you ever seen someone fire a laser from their cleavage? After seeing some of that stuff, you may start to wonder why not.

Smiley I love that hair and I also love the Mohawk. Is there any chance to replace another hair? Ex: some from TS3 store...

No, they don't. Peggy fixed hers a long time ago, so not "all these replacement hairs" crash games. Only SAU's.

All Peggy's new hairs work fine in my game. There's some tiny breaks in the hairs in CAS, but they're not noticeable in game if they're there at all.

Peggy's first hair hasn't been crashing the game since she fixed it, but it still replaces the mohawk which is making me a very sad panda.

I doubt it's fixed yet as you've asked over and over in this thread.
When it is, I'm sure someone will announce it.

MAybe it's because nobody is able to contact Myo...pitty...it was a nice hair.

The SAU site admin, Coris, has a contact email of coris-_-@hanmail.net (coris dash underscore dash at hanmail.net) per Coris' Mod The Sims profile

Yes, I remembered Coris the other day and moseyed on over to MTS2 to find an email address.  Emails have been sent to various people who can get a message to MyoS; the ball is in their court now.

Exactly. And that's the way it should be. Not only is it Myos' responsibility to fix his or her own work, but I would not recommend anyone else messing with anyone else's work without permission and it this case it seems Myos is not an easy person to reach.

There's been all sorts of drama in the Sims community in the past about people modifying and/or reposting other people's work, even with the best intentions, so it's not worth the trouble.
