Why would you join a book club if you didn't love books?

Maybe because of the free books? (Well, at least in Sims 3)

I've searched all the places I know and can't find what I'm looking for. Does anyone know of a 'no-autonomous dishwashing' mod? I'm tired of my sims gathering at and blocking the sink or dishwasher all the time. I'd like to designate one sim to clean up all dishes. Thanks.
Try AwesomeMod's robotic hand. Then you don't need any kind of dishwasher as the unused dishes will be thrown away with the hand tool automatically.

If you just want free stuff, there are millions of ways to get that in this game without resorting to hacks or cheating; you can just go outside and pick up a rock, for instance. If you want your reading-is-fundamental sim to enroll in a book club so that she can receive new books to read every week, you have that option.

I think it makes more sense that traits reserve special capabilities (like a bookworm joining a book club), as it adds an incentive to pick that as a trait. If everyone gets all the same benefits regardless of trait, it somewhat negates the entire point of having a trait system in the first place.

People are never happy with the trait system.  I saw someone requesting a mod to prevent Excitable sims from getting excited about everything.
