In this game save I have removed all of the residential lots and transport the inhabitants to the Households bin. I thought that I'd share as this is something I wanted and I figured I couldn't be the only one. Now you can have all of the original sims in your new neighborhood built how you like it, or you could populate it with your own sims. You could even pick and choose which families you'd like to keep and delete the rest the possibilities are left up to your imagination. You can download the file here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/4ymmdy3vmwg/SunVal Empty2.rar

I don't think the other one posted here has the Sims moved to the household bin, does it?

Exactly what I was wanting, the option to have the in game families, but only if I choose so. Thank you.
Update: I installed this into my game today, and found that the only families available for placement where the default families that are always in the sim bin for placement, such as Martinez, etc. ie; the one's without a home.

"transport the inhabitants to the Households bin" May I ask how you did that? Did you put them in the library?
When Storyprogression is on, the game will use families in the library to populate the world, is that not true?
I like the idea of starting an empty hood like this, but do not want duplicate families in my already excisting world.

Thank you, been wanting to be able to play them if I wanted to but wanted a clean hood to make my own choice.
I think the game will not use the sims in the bin to populate the hood, it should generate a new family at random, but only if there is a house for them to live in. They shouldnt be generated if there is no house. But if there is several families you create living in the hood, the game will evict them (delete them for good) and move their generated family in there. Thats how I heard it. Not sure if awesomemod had stopped that thought, or the latest patch.

I saved a copy of the Goths, Bachelor, Landgrabb, and Crumplebottom as well as the Alto's and another 2 favourites, complete with their homes and installed them into the empty neighbourhood. I then found that these people were duplicated by the game. They didn't have homes but they were 'townies' complete with family structure and ghosts etc. I then had to decide which families to keep and destroy the clones by wiping them out when they were temporarily being placed in the 'clipboard'.

How did you remove the residences? Did you use the bulldozer?

Has anyone done this for Riverview yet? I like the idea of recreating a town with custom-built houses, but I'd rather start small.

I have the same question, as using the bulldozer will have destroyed the "beautiful vista" moodlets on those lots that have them. I have been trying to get a 'hood that has all empty lots yet retains the "beautiful vista" moodlets; however, any lot that has any of the garden plants on it has a lot value discrepency between furnished/unfurnished lots, even after the plants have been sledgehammered. The lots retain a house icon rather than a lot icon. Granted, the values are quite small, a matter of 30ish to 80ish simoleans, but I'm being a perfectionist.

I have the same problem in my clean version of SV, Kattenijin. It isn't just plants either because some of the lots I dismantled didn't have gardens, but retain their "house" tags. I finally gave up and have been using the last effort as a template. Chaos - if you don't mind the loss of the "Beautiful Vista" buffs, you can download a stripped Riverview at MTS. Link

Once you place the families that you have chosen to keep. You should remove those families from the household bin. I hope that my work has not caused too much aggravation. please enjoy and if you don't like it you don't have to use it!

It's not that I don't like it, Ronnie; it's just that I'd like to know what I'm downloading. If these lots have been bulldozed, I'll just stick with the version I dismantled piecemeal.

FrickinIdjit, thanks for the link. Actually, I'm not too bothered by missing moodlets. I try to diminish any environmental moodlets (nicely decorated, etc), because they make it difficult to tell what a sim's mood will be while working. That's really the only time that their moods even matter, IMO.
