So, I decided I wanted to start Pleasentview over again now that all the expansions are out and most things fixed by hacks. I installed the base game, did the starting scenarios (doing them after installing expansions messed them up), then installed all the expansions. All the sim bin families are there, but the 2 occupied house families (Kat and Kim) are MIA. Is there a way to get them back (and is it safe? I know that packaging a family in a house is a bad thing). Are the files somewhere on the Pets discs? Do I have to (sigh) uninstall most of the expansions, put my backup NH in and open it up with only Pets and below?

Occupied house families are in the lot bin. Check there.

Yes, I know. The occupied lots bin is completely empty (grayed out).

Have you installed any clean templates?

Faizah:
Have you already placed the occupied lots in another hood? Occupied lots are a one-off thing, once they've been placed, they're no longer in the bin.
