Flickering, transparent Sims - why, and what to do?

To run the game in windowed mode:

Right-click on the shortcut to the game and select "Properties". Add "-w" without the quotes to the end of the Target line so that it reads "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 FreeTime\TSBin\Sims2EP7.exe" -w, or wherever your game folder is located. Make sure there is a space between the "...exe" and the -w.

What is the advantage of doing this? I'm really surprised that there is no ready answer for what's going on. This seems like so many of the other problems I've had over the past year and a half of playing this game, and it always seemed there was an answer or solution to whatever the problem was. Not this time, apparently. Also, if this is caused by the graphics card, why did it take over a month to manifest itself?

I dunno'-- how about some damn PICTURES so we can know exactly what you mean?

"Flickering or pulsing"-- do you mean flashing blue?

"Their bodies will disappear and then come back, or parts of their costumes will show but not the whole thing." Do you mean their skin tones sometimes disappear just leaving the clothing meshes and textures? Or what? Be extra clear or.... post some DAMN PICTURES!

When I play in windowed mode the game seems to take less of my computers resources.  The game runs smoother, and I'm able to do multiple things at the same time, such as run the game, surf the web, burn cds, and run a word processing program, but hubby says that I stress out the computer when i do a bunch of stuff at a time.  :)

He built me a nice one nearly 3 yrs ago, it was almost top of the line as far as gaming machines go, but cost 1/3 to 1/5 the cost of a "name brand" gaming machine.  It keeps up with them.  Now 3 yrs later it is a bit outdated, but not obsolete.  We have limited upgrading abilities.  Our computer is about mid range quality compared to other gaming machines.  Not bad.

I perfer windows mode.  I just click the tabs on the task bar to switch between internet and the game.  Very easy.

The advantage of windows mode is that it can actually help if you are having graphics issues or issues related to your card. Some people report that their game runs smoother, doesn't crash as often, so forth, so on.

My two cents, is that it may be a corrupt core file and those files should be replaced.

Edit: never mind. I have read through your problem again. It may be a graphics problem and why the card has suddenly started to do this? It may be overheating.

Or does your problem look anything like the pictures here:
