Do you play in Debug mode? If so, did an error pop up? If so, then look in your 'Logs' folder in your
Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Logs
It will be the most recent error.

No I do not, out of fear it will corrupt the game.

However I did not save, so I can turn on debug mode, and redo the coming home.
