Seems crazy that anyone would want to actually replace default clothing in what appears to people to be a normal download! I know a lot of people do want to get rid of some default items, but I think they would much prefer to do it knowingly! And for those of us who don't want to replace anything, it's apain if we have to read every word of (sometimes) a very long blurb!
I agree with you but I have had it happen to me numerous times since way I got the base game in 2004. the issue is a real problem on the exchange .I learned my lesson about downloading sims there to get the clothes or the skin or whatever.I havent had that problem of late. since I no longer download houses with sims or sims themselves from the exchange.I have been wrestling with my computer tonight. I had to do a reinstall of nightlife because Lastnight I added ramwent from 512mb to 1024mb of ram and for whatever reason bodyshop uninstalled itself when I did the changeover. thank god I remembered to back up my neighborhood that is custom and my Dl folder because I went into body shop and discovered that none of my custom content was there.I put in my back up folders and it reappeared .I used sim enhancer to change the name of my custom hood for a new story line Im working. and the insimenator to kill off a few sims that I no longer wantyed but didnt want useless file of in SimPE. I had a living sim move the headstones to the cemetary , then I moved my living sim back to her original house. it pays to back up files and periodically look through the downloads folder and cleanse it of files that never get used.

Oh crap...
It's too late since I just reinstalled everything. That would have been great, Motoki, had I thought to check before going ahead and reinstalling. Thank you for the offer. As for downloads, I do have certain skins that are tagged "default" but I removed them all...So, if it was a download, it is an extremely evil one. I'm happy to have a fresh install though, so it wasn't so bad...Now, the true question will be...once I place all of my custom content back in, will be Nightlife clothing still be there? I have no answer for that, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. And you can rest assured that I'll be back crying tears of woe if my game remains "broken".
I'll also be weeding my massive downloads folder down to just a semi-massive one. ;)
Thanks all!

I added up and found I had over 2MB when I included all my skins, genetics etc. in Saved Sims, and my Walls and Floors folder! But the game seems to play ok, and doesn't take all that long to load - half that amount was slower with sims1, so I'm not complaining!

2 MB is a tiny amount my download folder sends my sims 2 folder to 1.33 GB. and according to my system Info.when I star the game up I have 733 megabytes of Ram that is not being used.so upgrading my Ram from 512 to 1024 has noticeably sped my game up. even in large lots with lots of sims. I have one lot where the Mom Just had twin girls.I used sim enhancer to tweak the girls to being fraternal twins with the same birth sign and I noticed only a couple of seconds lagtime for the birth instead of 2 or 3 minutes when I had 256mb of ram and a full minute and a half for 512 mb. so I have learned that Ram does make a difference in the speed of the game when it comes to special events in games where you have a ton of CC. which to me is anything Maxis didnt ship with the game
