Roses PLUS a hot tub??

C.S.:
It's the same thing with my game too, 'stingy' dates, sigh. I've also tried continuous dating throughout the sim day (downtown and home) and it's still roses 'dream dates' after 'dream dates'. I must have done over 20, and only 2 lucky sims have gotten more than a bunch of roses - a DJ booth and a fountain respectively :-\.

Does anyone know what time the dates would usually drop off the gifts, if they were going to drop it off at all? Then I won't waste time watching out for them past the time they were supposed to show up. Oh, and what's with the doorbell ringing? The first time I saw a date (Dirk Dreamer) sneak up to a house (Lilith's), I thought he was gonna drop off a gift and was so excited and curious, turns out he only wants to ring the doorbell, which woke the whole family up. And then he tiptoed out the gate, standing around like he was waiting to be greeted, tiptoed around somemore, then back to the frontdoor to ring the doorbell and back to waiting outside the gate again. When he was finally greeted, he'll say it's late and he better go. Huh ??? What is the purpose in that?

I've had NL since it came out and I've only had 1 dream date. No, no, I'm not a horrible player. It's quite easy in my opinion. I just haven't taken any Sims on dates. But anyway, the gift I recieved was a vase of roses with a love note, and a Dance Sphere.

I take my Sims on dates for a couple of reasons, mainly.  Romance Sims are obvious.  And the other reason is for when they have wants I can't fulfill for one reason or another, I will set them up on a date, and all of their wants will change to be more in-line with the date, thereby allowing me to get them into platinum mood, and then I can end the date with my Sims in much better moods.  I used that to avoid aspiration failure for my Romance Sims, right before they were about to have a baby.  ;D

Rainbow, I've got the same glitch. My married couples drive me nuts with the picking up the roses and putting them back down. Sometimes they stop on their own, sometimes they need help.

The gifts are definitely random. I was going to have a romance sim support herself that way but after receiving the bust of that dead roman guy and a piano she now only receives roses. Her yard (if you can call it that, since she lives on cement) is littered with them, either for her or her husband. Just for fun I had them read each other's roses. Man, was that a fight. I thought he'd never forgive her. It's hard to see a grown vampire cry.

I never should have moved my sims out of their first dorm. They received three gifts in a row there and after they moved to a rented house ... only roses. I wonder if they would have gotten more gifts if I'd left them in the dorm.

Also, just a cute little aside: my male, definitely straight, vampire went on an outing that turned out pretty well (not perfect, but not bad either) and afterwards another guy left him a gift! He got a "bit o' this and that" but since he rarely eats he sold it for cash. That's what gifts are for, right?

I've gotten a couple of hot tubs, and a karaoke machine, and a couple of more minor presents.  The funny thing is, the last time my Sim got the hot tub, was after her date had caught her cheating on him.  He dropped off the roses, caught her, dropped of the hot tub, and then a couple of Sim hours later, started stealing her newspaper and kicking over her trash can!   :D

That happened to me, too!  My sim had just come home from a date and called another sim for a date.  Instead of heading straight for a community lot, I had her come over to his house first (wasn't thinking about the other date bringing roses) and here she comes carrying a lovely dozen roses and caught him cheating.  I was thinking, 'Oh great!  There goes the door prize!'  Low and behold, a few hours after he got home from his other date she returned with a huge sculpture!  Then his second date brought a karaoke machine.

That particular sim was the recipient of two pianos, one karaoke machine, one telescope, a DJ station, a bust sculpture and possibly something else even.  Ah but he was a happy sim until his girlfriends started getting wise!

Witches:
Hope he realizes how lucky he is. Or rather, was.

Has anyone had married couples give each other a gift? Or does it only work if they don't live together? Just curious.

I've got a married couple who have only dated each other (no gifts, only roses). They've got 13 dozen roses lining their front walk. They need one more dream date to even it up, LOL, and then there won't be any more room. Maybe they'll have to fence their yard in them too ...  :D
