Pretending for a moment that I believe what she said is true (which I don't) how does it make any sense to block the links in PMs too? Or do Pescado and his fans somehow psychically know when someone at VS uses such a link in their private messages and then bombard Rennie with complaints about it? ::)

Honestly, I've never seen such weirdness on a website (well, except when I went looking for it). I started out on Mod the Sims 2, then Various Simmers, then ended up here - I guess I'm an honest to god JM fanboi, since I'll follow him wherever he goes. I still go to the other two sites, naturally - they all have worthwhile things on them, and when I'm looking for something, I'll go to wherever has it.
The sheer amount of drama coming from VS and it's staff, though, just makes me feel like I ended up in Bizarro World. I personally take the "WHATEVAH!" approach, but I guess after seeing all the crap that goes on between sim communities, I felt the need to post (thus blowing away any claims to neutrality that I might have once had). Reading posts from those people always leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Or a "what the fuck" taste, which is similar, but with a hint of nutmeg.

I've been following the drama since the CEP thread began (hell, I guess since I've been a member at VS, the drama has been going on long before that. Remember the Fuck MTS2 thread? Motoki? lol. That looks like Romper Room compared with the CEP thread). Anyone else notice Rentechd's posts getting less and less coherent? Like her hands are positioned on the wrong keys on the keyboard? I'm picturing frothing at the mouth, wild hair...it lends a very freaky vibe to the whole fiasco.
I hope TJ escapes, soon. He's much too respectable to be associated with that site.

While you may be right, I'm prepared to give Rennie the benefit of the doubt in this case. As for some of the others... well, I've had dealings with a few in chat and I know what they can be like.
Rennie caved in with only a few messages about the avatar, and at the time neither JM nor myself saw anything wrong with it, as we discussed it in chat. It wouldn't surprise me if some of the more zealous members of MATY have messaged her about sending idiots here.
After reading the CEP thread it's obvious that some of 'em need to be staked out on a short leash and fed raw meat with a slingshot. It may be that Ren's simply letting too many people push her around. Perhaps she needs a bit more weight in her buttocks fundament.
Someone else mentioned using the same forum software that rentech does, and that it's easy to change all instances of a particular string to something else, which affects PM's as well as forum postings. If there's no way to exclude PM's from the global change, then she's simply taken the easy way out.
