I'm just wondering if it's safe to delete the gossip and invisible memories. Deleting the pesky gossip spam won't have a detrimental effect on my game will it?

No, it won't have a bad effect on your game. It'll have a good one. I play a rotation-style and delete gossip memories every generation.

do tell. How do you determine its time to delete the gossip memories? I too play rotation style.

Gwill:
I delete gossip memories every play session.  I also clear away those fricking "met sim" memories.
